Exhibition "Dreams about Vitebsk"

In the Vitebsk Art Museum from September 6 to October 15, 2017, my sixth personal painting exhibition “Dreams about Vitebsk” was held.

The official opening took place on Thursday, September 14 at 16.00.

I invited everyone to come and see for themselves more than 20 paintings dedicated to Vitebsk and Vitebsk people, created according to my memories. After all, it is simply impossible to evaluate art by photographs and descriptions. Visitors had the opportunity to ask questions about my work.

At the end of the exhibition, I donated one of my best works “Kirov Bridge” to the art museum. Now it is in the funds of the museum and it can be seen there, within the walls of this wonderful building.

Sleep is the most mysterious state around which an incredible number of rumors circulate. Dreams are colorful and bright, or black and white and dull. They can show the past or the future, or they can take you into the world of fantasy and fiction. Usually they see dreams, in fact, when they sleep. However, sometimes they are seen in reality. Then reality and fiction get confused and you no longer know when you are sleeping and when you are not.

There are a great many variations and types of dreams and we will not list them all now. Let us dwell on only one, the most striking, spectacular and memorable. Everyone has such a dream at least once in their life. He beckons and calls, not allowing us to forget the dearest. That’s right, this is a dream about a native place, about the Motherland. About your favorite city, where you grew up or live now.

I grew up and live in the wonderful city of Vitebsk. Such a dream, of course, visited me too. Otherwise, these works would not exist. Many of which are dedicated to Vitebsk. And it’s not just cityscapes. After all, if you think about it, remembering your native, not only places, landscapes, but also people, emotions, impressions and even fantasies that once arose come up in your memory. And all this is for everyone a piece of the native.

So I conveyed in my works small moments of my memories from dreams about my native, that same city of Vitebsk. These are long walks along the night streets with bright lanterns and flying cars, and random people from the streets and numerous various events, of which there are a lot. And of course, my dreams about Vitebsk would be incomplete if they did not contain a little mysticism and fairy tales.
